Downtown Boston (The Hood)

Chad starts class Monday, so we thought we should take full advantage of his last free weekend. Someone on campus had an appointment downtown and needed a ride, so we took that as an opportunity to explore Boston.

Typical Chad & Chelsea style: spontaneity. We did not look up sites before going–we just went and expected to find a good time. Chad brought a book with him as a backup in case our downtown adventure turned into a coffeehouse bore-fest. I tossed the book into the back seat and told him, “NO WAY!” Shrugging off my bold statement, he consulted a map of downtown.

"What the hell am I doin' here?"

“What the hell am I doin’ here?” (inside SNL joke, lol)

One of the first things we saw shocked us.

"Uhh, let's try another entrance"

“Uhh, let’s try another entrance.”

We walked to a different side of the building. The next thing we saw shocked us even more… It was as if the message was stronger, larger, clearer…

"Oh... I get it!"

“Oh… I get it! There is a General named Hooker!”

Now that we knew Boston wasn’t a perverse city, we kept going on our journey.

Boston Common (the oldest park in the country!) welcomed us with open gates

We approached another hero..

We approached another hero…

Chad basked in it!

And I took (and edited) this picture.

After we left Boston Common, we headed to Newbury St. to do some shopping, stopped at Cheers (the TV-inspired pub), then headed back to the hospital. Here are some pictures we took while walking around:

And this is how I felt after all that walking:

Seriously?!

Seriously?!

While we waited for our new friend to get out of her appointment we had a little contest that Chad always wins. 🙂

Big mouth…

…bigger mouth.
